National Institute of Telecommunications
The PL-LAB2020 node at National Institute of Telecommunications (NIT) is located in NIT’s headquarters in Miedzeszyn, Warsaw. The PL-LAB2020 node at NIT enables carrying out an experimental research related with the following topics: Network Virtualisation, Software Defined Networking, Internet of Things, Wireless networks and Network Management.
Software Defined Networks Lab
The laboratory is equipped with three types of devices:
- 4x HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 with DPDK (multi-processor DPDK servers on which SDN/Open Flow controllers can be installed or e.g. open software for SDN switches, e.g. Open vSwitch)
- 3x Pica8 P-3922, 1x Pica8 P-3297 (SDN/OpenFlow switches)
- 3x QuantaMesh BMS T1048-LB9 (bare metal switches enabling the installation of open source operating system)
Network Virtualization Lab
The laboratory is equipped with:
- Spirent hardware tester (highly specialized hardware traffic generator/analyser with wide spectrum of L1-L7 network testing capabilities and protocol/device emulation capabilities)
- 12 x 1/10 Gbps interfaces (MX2 card)
- 2 x 100 Gbps interfaces (MX card)
- Spirent Avalanche Virtual software (virtual machines for video streaming testing, including adaptive streaming)
- Attero hardware emulator (highly specialized network emulation tool)
- 2x 1/10 interfaces
- 4x QuantaMesh BMS T1048-LB9 (bare metal switches enabling the installation of open source operating system)
Internet of Things Lab
The laboratory consists of the following domains and devices:
- Personal Area Networks: IEEE 802.15.4 (including ZigBee)
- 5x Freescale TWR-KW24Dx
- 5x Sniffer Freescale KW24D512
- 1x Telegesis ETRX3 Development Kit
- 2x WandBoard microcomputer i.MX6 Quad
- Light, temperature and humidity sensors with ZigBee connectivity
- Microcomputers
- 10x Raspberry Pi2 B
- 1x Banana Pi
- Compatible accessories: cameras, TFT displays, picoboards, sensors (proximity, light, temperature, current)
You can use them in place or rent them.
Wireless Lab
The main goal of the laboratory is to extend other laboratories with wireless access scenarios. The laboratory contains a set of wireless access points (Netgear R6300) and wireless terminals (tablets with Android and iOS operating systems). The laboratory offers also the following tools for monitoring the ISM 2.4 and 5 GHz bands:
- Metageek Wi-Spy DBx
- Metageek Wi-Spy Device Finder antenna
- Riverbed AirPcap
You can use them in place or rent them.
Management Lab
The laboratory offers:
- 5x HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 running as virtualization servers
- 2x HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 with DPDK (multi-processor DPDK servers on which SDN/Open Flow controllers can be installed or e.g. open software for SDN switches as Open vSwitch)
- 1x Pica8 P-3297 (SDN/OpenFlow switch)
- 1x QuantaMesh BMS T1048-LB9 (bare metal switch enabling the installation of open source operating system)
- 4x Wyse 7020 terminals (local access only)
